A £15 million transformation plan for Coventry’s stadium is moving forward after a major deal between the club and arena operators. The project aims to modernise the venue and position it as a year-round destination for events, with new culinary offerings and upgraded facilities expected to open soon.
Modernising the fan experience
Coventry City FC and the Coventry Building Society Arena have partnered with global sports organisation Legends Global to drive the investment over the next three years. The agreement includes a joint investment strategy designed to upgrade the matchday experience and boost the venue’s profile.
Improvements will focus on the basics of a matchday visit. Redesigned kiosks and upgraded food and drink options are part of the plan, alongside new premium hospitality spaces. Officials say the upgrades also target technology and operational infrastructure to create a smoother environment for visitors.

Simon Rogan’s Umbel Restaurant Group will bring its culinary expertise to the arena. The group holds ten Michelin stars between its venues and will create a new premium dining experience in the Engine Room hospitality lounge. This will operate as a mini-residency during football matches and other events.
The partnership also includes a long-term global sales agreement. Legends Global will work with the club and arena teams to attract high-profile music and entertainment acts. The focus is on developing opportunities in the conference and events market to ensure the venue is used well beyond matchdays.
Setting a new benchmark
The investment coincides with the club’s return to the Premier League. Officials believe the increased national profile of Coventry City offers a chance to raise the arena’s standing both domestically and internationally.
According to the agreement, the goal is to create a more seamless experience for supporters, visitors and event delegates. The broader ambition is to increase activity throughout the year by combining football with food, music, business events and live entertainment.

Chris Bray, president of Legends Global, said the organisation is focused on delivering a venue experience that matches the occasion. The partnership is intended to set a new benchmark for the complete experience, moving beyond basic operations to include renovated kiosks, raised food and drink options, and premium spaces.
This type of commercial agreement mirrors the strategy used by other top-tier clubs. Historically, teams entering the Premier League have sought to align themselves with established global operators to manage their commercial and hospitality revenue. The logic is that professional management can unlock value that in-house teams cannot access on their own, particularly in international markets where local knowledge is limited.
Doug King, owner and executive chairman of Coventry City FC, described the partnership as a landmark moment for the club and the city. He stated that the ambition extends beyond the pitch and that the goal is to establish Coventry as a leading destination for sport, music and hospitality 365 days a year.
