A Newcastle brewery is brewing up expansion plans with the opening of its first permanent pub at Fenwick. Full Circle Brew Co, a local favorite known for its innovative and flavorful beers, is set to make its mark on the city center with this exciting venture.
First City-Centre Home
Located on the first floor of Fenwick Newcastle, the pub will feature 12 taps and two cask lines, offering an extensive selection of beers. Full Circle will pour its own beers, such as the award-winning Looper IPA, alongside a rotating selection from independent breweries across the UK. This rotation ensures that patrons will always have something new and exciting to try. Guest beers, collaborations, and tap takeovers are also planned, providing a lively and ever-changing tap list that showcases the best of the UK’s independent brewing scene.
Food will come courtesy of Newcastle street food vendor Peckin’ Order, which will serve its renowned fried chicken and smash burgers from the venue. Their menu, known for its bold flavors and generous portions, will complement the wide range of beers on offer, creating a well-rounded dining experience.
The pub will occupy the space previously home to the Golden Flake Tavern, Fenwick’s 2025 collaboration with fellow North East-founded brand Greggs. Full Circle already has links to the site, having brewed the exclusive collaboration beers served at the Golden Flake Tavern. This connection adds an extra layer of local history and significance to the new pub.
Community Spirit
Kieran McBride, store director at Fenwick Newcastle, welcomed the news: “We’re delighted to welcome Full Circle Brew Co to Fenwick Newcastle… They bring a strong community spirit, and we’re excited to see them bring their first city-centre pub to life.” Fenwick, a historic department store in the heart of Newcastle, is renowned for its community engagement and support of local businesses. Welcoming Full Circle is a sign of their commitment to supporting a thriving local economy.
Founded in 2019, Full Circle has quickly established itself as a leading light in the UK’s craft beer scene. Starting from its base in Ouseburn, a lively and creative neighborhood in Newcastle, the brewery has expanded its reach to sell beers across the UK and export to 12 countries worldwide. Its core range includes Looper IPA, Repeater Session IPA, Hoop American Pale Ale, Rotator, and Meridian, alongside seasonal beers and collaborations with other breweries.
Flagship Looper IPA, a hop-forward beer bursting with citrus and tropical fruit flavors, has won numerous awards. It picked up gold in the keg IPA category at the Society of Independent Brewers’ (SIBA) annual competition, BeerX, in both 2022 and 2024. These accolades highlight the brewery’s commitment to quality and consistency, ensuring that every pint poured at the new pub will be a sign of their dedication to craftsmanship.
Bigger Audience
Ben Cleary, founder of Full Circle Brew Co, expressed his excitement: “Opening our first pub is a huge moment for us… Having Peckin’ Order serving their food alongside the beers is a massive part of what we want the venue to be… Our brewery and taproom in Ouseburn will always be our home, but opening our first dedicated pub gives us the opportunity to bring Full Circle to a completely new audience in the city centre.” Cleary’s vision for the pub is clear – to create a space that celebrates the best of Newcastle’s independent food and drink scene, while also introducing the brewery’s offerings to a wider audience.
The pub’s central location in Fenwick Newcastle ensures that it will be easily accessible to both residents and visitors alike. This, coupled with the brewery’s plans to host launch events and tap takeovers, creates a dynamic and engaging atmosphere that is sure to become a beloved destination in the city center. The pub’s opening in October promises to be a significant moment for both the brewery and Newcastle’s lively cultural scene.
Further details about the opening date and launch events will be announced closer to the pub’s opening in October. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting new addition to Newcastle’s culinary and drinking environment.
